California Dreamin'
In less than three weeks I will be on the west coast in So Cal. I will be blogging about my experiences via text and video. I’m going to get back on here and put some good stuff together. Looking forward to it.

A day and a week.
That is all that is left until I am a senior. Then I enter the real world, scary. Hopefully everything will be back to normal economically come this time next year. Unfortunately I am moving out of Wrigleyville, bummer. I’m heading back home for my final semester. Basically it boils down to saving money and I don’t feel like taking out another loan just to stay behind Wrigley Field. I...

The Home Stretch
It has been one busy and somewhat stressful week. At the beginning of the week I sat under a mountain of papers with no sources or information to help finish them. However as the week went on things began to come around.Needless to say at the beginning of this week I was not loving journalism. There was a paper that I had been sitting on for quite sometime because no one was getting back to me,...

Fantasy Baseball, 5k Marathons, The Cubs and more.
I signed up for fantasy baseball on yahoo once again. I don’t remember when I started playing it, but damn if I don’t enjoy doing it. I even went so far as to purchase live stat updates. It’s the first time I’ve ever done that. I figured I’d give it a shot. They provided the service free during the first week and I have to say I enjoyed having it there. It’s...

Crime According to Every Block.
So I searched my address and I was surprised to find that the types of crimes were different then what I expected. When I think of Wrigleyville and crime I think of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, public urination etc, etc, etc. Considering the location you would think that those types of things were common place. Much to my surprise they were different. The last...

Denis Leary and other random thoughts.
Saturday night I went to see The Rescue Me Comedy Tour at the Chicago Theater. The producers of Rescue Me told Denis Leary to do a comedy show in order to remind fans that the show is back. Not a bad way to get the word out. Leary wasn’t as sinical as he has been in the past. I’m sure you’ve seen video or clips of the chain smoking Leary and spouting there is no cure for cancer....

Adam Carolla Podcast
While figuring out what to podcast to listen to I came across one of my favorite T.V. personalities/comedians Adam Carolla. I’m a big fan of his work on the Man Show, Loveline and his short lived remodeling show The Adam Carolla Project on TLC. I didn’t catch him on Dancing with the Stars though, unfortunately Carolla is no longer on the Man Show nor Loveline for that matter and not...

Tribune Letter to the Editor
Cubs’ neighbors I’m writing in response to “More night games is just talk, Cubs say; Wrigley neighbors voice concerns at meeting with team” (News, March 25).The concerts at Wrigley Field have nothing to do with baseball and should not reflect upon the Cubs’ night-game agreement with the neighborhood. The Cubs’ front office has done nothing wrong. If anything,...

Multimedia and Me.
Being able to work a digital camera/ video camera will ultimately help me in job later on in life. This will hopefully put me ahead of those people who are already in the market. The fact that people in the industry don’t have those skills puts me a leg up on most of them. I’d probably need to get better acquainted with working a video camera so that in case I need to shoot video for a...

Spring Break
Finally spring break is almost here. Well two more classes in two more days and I can say I’m on break. Thank God this semester has been a lot of work. College was easy up until this point. Seriously I don’t ever recall having this much homework in the 3 1/2 semester I’ve been at Columbia. It’s blog this, read that. Holy hell I’ve never worked so hard in college...

Random Thoughts.
New episodes of South Park started last night. I’m amazed at how long that show has been able to last when a show like Beavis and Butthead which is pretty similar in humor is one in an the same. They were both on cable and yet some how a show on MTV, which is a complete joke, gets booted. Garbage. Back to South Park they are usually hit or miss. They usually take something from the news or...

Experiences on the Interweb
When I was younger the internet was up and coming and being able to go online was a big deal. I remember how going in chatrooms were dangerous and unsafe. Oh how times have changed. Chatrooms are the least of our concern these days. While they were all the rage back in the day they have fallen by the way side and now they have to compete with Myspace and Facebook. Now it is the Facebooks and...

Getting my twitter on.
I’m on twitter now and I’m not sure what to make of it. Originally when I heard about it I thought to myself here we go again. Yet another social site that one way or another I will fall victim to. Alas I was right, but not by choice however. I signed up solely because it was part of the class. I already have a “twitter” feature on Facebook. I remember when they called it...

Bad Groups
Group work. Two words that cause people to shit themselves with fear. The fear comes from the horrible possibility of being in a group where nothing goes right and the work is pinned all on one single person. That person being you. I can’t recall one single instance of bad group work. I mean I’m sure it’s happened. Everyone has been apart of one group where it was a complete...

Spring Training,Cubs tickets and other random...
Spring training kicked off yesterday. Baseball is back and for me it doesn’t get any sweeter than that. The Cubs opened up the Cactus League by facing the very same team that eliminated from postseason play, The Los Angeles Dodgers. How ironic? I guess the schedule maker has a sense of humor. Unlike the playoffs the Cubs beat the Dodgers, the Manny-less Dodgers that is. I know it’s...

The Internet and Me.
I remember getting my first computer in January of 2000. I remember the excitement of going online. It was new, something different. I remember how long it would take for a web page to load up. It seemed as though it would take forever for a site to load some times. Well it did take forever. I look back knowing what I know now about the Internet and I have to chuckle because the internet has come...

The sweet smell of Spring.
It is that time of year again. Spring Training is under way and that only means one thing. Cubs tickets will be on sale soon. February 20th to be exact. With that said, the annual wristband system will be happening too. Wednesday the 18th was the first day for the wrist bands. So of course I went and got one with the hopes of being one of the lucky ones who get a chance to buy tickets on Friday. ...

Old School Nickelodeon
I always like reminiscing with friends about the television shows we used to watch as kids. There were a number of good shows particularly on Nickelodeon. My earliest memories were that of Eureka’s Castle and David the Gnome. With out a doubt my two favorite shows as a child. Today kids are cheated when it comes to the shows that are put on TV.  While I don’t necessarily remember any...

Current Events - Alex Rodriguez tests positive for...
I was watching MLB Network this morning and during the game in which they were showing they broke in with news that Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees had tested positive for steroids during a random drug test in 2003. While I’m not shocked or disappointed I am not surprised. Steroids have run rampant in the game and now it’s all coming out. It’s disheartening as a fan to...

My thoughts on journalism.
I believe that journalism is heading in a new direction and that direction is online. At some point in the future journalism more or less newspaper are going to become a thing of the past. Thankfully I will be able to deal with this change because I am one of the future journalists who have the necessary skills that newspapers will be looking for. The future of journalism is going to be online all...

Back to the Future
Back to the Future is one my favorite triologies next to Indiana Jones and Die Hard. Me and my one friend Abe regularly quote the movie. We’ll casually drop lines from the movie into conversation. It is sort of like our own inside joke. I love reading about behind the scenes information about the movie. While watching the original Back to the Future about a week ago I was browsing...
