For What It's Worth

The Internet and Me.

I remember getting my first computer in January of 2000. I remember the excitement of going online. It was new, something different. I remember how long it would take for a web page to load up. It seemed as though it would take forever for a site to load some times. Well it did take forever. I look back knowing what I know now about the Internet and I have to chuckle because the internet has come a long way since then.Internet

My first ever encounter with the internet was in sixth grade in a technology class. This was a time before every class room had a computer in it. I’d say only this room and the library had the most computers. Now every class room has one in them and the internet is common place. I remember being asked if I ever remember a time where there was no internet. I answered yes because I do. For some people particularly those born after 1990 can’t recall a time without the internet. It’s amazing as I’ve said how far we’ve come.

The internet is common place now a days and when we don’t have it or it doesn’t work properly we become frustrated and or bored very easily. The internet has impacted my life pretty profoundly because it’s my main way for me to communicate with friends and family alike.

I shop online without ever having to leave the house. Does that make me lazy, probably, but at the same time it saves me time to do other things.  I’m a sports junky and thanks to the internet I can get sports 24/7 365. That is the beauty of the internet because the information is always there when I want and or need it.

In more recent years thanks to Youtube I can watch thousands of videos at the click of a button. Man I wish I thought of that back in sixth grade I’d be raking in the money, but anyhow that’s the just one of the great things about the internet. Thanks to Facebook and MySpace I can keep in contact with friends from high school. The internet is an unbelievable tool that in my opinion is just starting to reach its potential and who knows where we will be in 20-30 years when it comes to the internet.
