Fantasy Baseball, 5k Marathons, The Cubs and more.
I signed up for fantasy baseball on yahoo once again. I don’t remember when I started playing it, but damn if I don’t enjoy doing it. I even went so far as to purchase live stat updates. It’s the first time I’ve ever done that. I figured I’d give it a shot. They provided the service free during the first week and I have to say I enjoyed having it there. It’s better than waiting for the results next day.
I was really satisfied with my draft results this year. I’ve got Albert Pujols at first, Aramis Ramirez at third, Carlos Zambrano, Roy Oswalt and Roy Halladay for my three starting pitchers. I’ve got a decent team overall and I started off tied for first but I’m currently sitting in third after last week. I expect to do well with the team I assembled the only problem I have is at catcher. I failed to draft a good catcher and I’m head of the league and for some reason I chose to have 2 catchers instead of just one which really stretched the catching pool thin. Which sucks because I’m stuck with Benji Molina and Yorvit Torrelaba. Oh well I’ll dominate in other areas I suppose.
I’m going to be running a 5k marathon on Saturday morning. This is the fourth time I’ve run it and the fifth one I’ve ran in my life. I enjoy running nice way to let loose. I usually run about 28 minutes in three miles. My best time was a 5 minute mile once. I was running a marathon in Los Angeles back in 2003 and got clocked at that time. I was surprised by it to say the least. It is still my personal best to this day. I’ve been running on a treadmill since February to get ready for this. I’ve gotten to 40 minutes in over 4 and a half miles. So I’m hoping the running has helped me out some what. The marathon I’m running is put on by the Chicago Cubs.
Speaking of the Cubs they’ve been back for about a week now. They sit at 8-6 which isn’t too bad I suppose, but they could be better, but then again they could be worse. My record at games so far is 4-2. Awesome game on Saturday. Aramis Ramirez with the walk-off home run against the St. Louis Cardinals was too sweet. After the game Saturday I went to the House of Blues to see one of my favorite bands perform.
Rocco Deluca and the Burden. Needless to say I was surprised to find that it was just Rocco by himself. He had two other people who werent part of the band. Come to find out that the band split up. Which is really interesting and shocking. I hope they reconcile because they were pretty good together. It was interesting night to say the least because my girl friend Jen ended up tending to this drunk married chick in the bathroom after she yacked.
True story. We were talking to her and her husband and all of the sudden gets up and is being escorted to the bathroom. She only had two drinks. She wasn’t tiny but she wasn’t big either. Amazing how some folks can’t hold their liqour. She was 30 something but looked 20 something and had two kids. Must’ve been the fact that it was her first night out in a while. I felt bad for her husband though. Luckily for them their hotel was next door to the HOB. I enjoyed the concert, but was diasppointed to find out the band had split up. On a side note related to the Rocco Deluca I almost met Kiefer Sutherland at Q101 last Thursday.
Needless to say that would’ve made my year, possibly my life. My friend interns there and left me a voice message saying Kiefer was in studio and that she had just walked by him. I was like wtf. I will go and meet, but unfortunately I had just missed him. Oh well, I’m sure I’ll get another chance down the line sometime. Anyhow that’s all I’ve got for now. Later kids.
